- Credits are evaluated once a student has been accepted to MCC and transcripts are received. Students will receive a transfer credit evaluation by email.
- Students who do not agree with the college’s decision on the granting of credit earned at a prior SUNY institution have the right to submit an appeal to the college’s Admissions Office.
- Students may submit their appeal request to Carmela Bilby (cbilby@bakabot.net).
- Students requesting an appeal should provide reasonable material to support their case, such as the course syllabus with course learning outcomes, books used in the class, and chapters covered in the course from the year the course was taken.
- Admissions will forward the appeal to the Department Chair of the corresponding area, and respond to the student within 15 business days.
- If the Department Chair supports the appeal:
- The department returns the appeal material to the Admissions Office with the request that the student be given transfer equivalency credit as approved. The student’s transfer credit will be adjusted to reflect the new equivalency. The student will be informed, and, if the chairperson has ruled that the equivalency applies to all students, the transfer equivalency tables will be changed to reflect the new course equivalency.
- If the Department Chair rejects the appeal:
- The Admission Office will notify the student regarding the department chair's decision and the student will be informed of their right of appeal to SUNY System Administration.
- Students may submit their appeal to the SUNY System Provost (TransferCredit@sysadm.suny.edu).
